4.3 STORYJUMPER

HI! This activity about a super fun adventure we took on in our first-grade class. We dove into the world of storytelling with Storyjumper, and it was  greatª!! I want to Keep an eye out for some cool story links at the end!

Organization:  Groups.
We started by splitting up into small teams. I mixed things up so everyone had a friendthey could work well with, making sure every group had a little bit of everything – from storytellers to artists.*How We

Begin to work:
1. Meet Storyjumper:First up, everyone got a tour of Storyjumper and asee how it works.
2. Brainstorming : each group threw out ideas for their stories. We were all about friendship, adventure, and fun classroom tales.
3. Sketching : we planned out our stories, deciding who would do what.
4. Creating sStories: This was the fun part using Storyjumper to make our stories pop with cool illustrations and text.

5. Show and Tell: Finally, it was time to share our stories with the class. Everyone got to show off their hard work and talk about how they made it.

What We Learned and Why
Our main goals were to get good at telling stories, unleash our creativity, and get the hang of Storyjumper. Storyjumper was perfect for this because it made everyone feel like a real author, showing us how to layout our stories and bring our ideas to life. For instance, figuring out the start, middle, and end of our stories helped us get better at organizing our thoughts.

CreativityWe went all out on the creativity front. Each group came up with their own unique characters and settings. There was this one story about a classroom where the chalkboard could talk – how cool is that?
What We Thought:Everyone loved making their stories, especially playing around with all the different parts of Storyjumper. The brainstorming part was a bit tricky for some, but once we got rolling, it was super fun. If we could change one thing, we’d probably want even more time to explore and create.

Looking Back and Ahead:
If I had to do it all over again, I’d definitely make sure we had plenty of time for brainstorming and maybe add in some time for the teams to give each other feedback before the final show-and-tell.
Sharing Our Stories:
After all the hard work, each group got to present their story to the class, which was a great way for everyone to see what their classmates had come up with and learn from each other.

This storytelling project was such a cool way to see everyone’s creative side and get to know each other better. I can’t wait to dive into more projects like this in the future.

MY STORYJUMER BOOK

That’s all for now! Hope you enjoyed hearing about our storytelling adventure as much as we enjoyed living it.

Till next time, keep those creative juices flowing and happy story making!

  1. Hi! Thank you for sharing this idea in such detailed way! I really like it and will carry it out with my students. I would use a more consistent font and colours with first graders as they are starting to learn how to read. I would also add more pictures to accompany the words (although you did for most of the book).

I have browsed your blog and think that the experiences and activities that you share are really well explained and interesting to apply. I hope to do so in the future!
